UWL CPD Session 6:  UWL Student Inductions - Blackboard Training Reading time: 2 minutes

Introduction:

This session covers a Blackboard training overview for new students. It covers in detail how we at UWL use Blackboard, our baseline module template, where to find information on Blackboard, how to submit assignments and complete tests or quizzes, how to access their submissions, view feedback, and grades assigned by their instructors, and more. All this is to get them prepared on how to use Blackboard, ready for the start of their courses.

The following is a detailed description of what we discuss in this training.

• BLACKBOARD OVERVIEW:
  Since the students to whom this session is delivered are new, I introduce them to the new Blackboard in this overview section. I talk about why we use Blackboard as our main VLE, I show them where to find information, how to navigate it, where to get contact information of their tutors, how to submit assignment, and where to find their assignment grades and feedback, and more.
• BLACKBOARD MODULE BASELINE TEMPLATE:
  For this part, I go over what the baseline template is. I discuss in detail each of the sections that make up the baseline template, the type of content they are meant to contain, and how they can find the relevant content easily.
• GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT:
  I cover where they can find guidance and support, not only on learning technologies in general , and their frequently asked questions , but also our IT services support and guidance on how to get connected . I provide them all these links so they have them for their reference when needed.
